The trustees of the Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre are seeking tender proposals from interested parties to hire space the Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre. 

This tender relates solely to the use of a separate hire space from the centre, though it is essential whomever takes on the unit will share the values of The Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre, in a manner consistent with other activities and events happening within the space.

About Us  

 

The Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre are a community hub based on the Corbett Estate in Catford,  South East London. Our facilities include playing fields, activities studio, cafe and community gardens. 

 

Due to recent changes in the management of the centre, a local group has come together to act as a board (supported by local volunteers), to embed a community led approach to the Centre management. 

  

The HLC board aim to manage the facilities to address local needs which include higher than average levels of child and adult obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and mental health illness. A core priority of the centre is to provide opportunities for local residents to lead an active, healthy lifestyle through the facilities we provide.

The HLC aims to be a sustainable and resilient community asset that demonstrably: 

  • Improves community and individual health, wellbeing, and happiness 

  • Enhances social cohesion and community involvement in improving and helping others in the local area 

Our offer  

Outlined below are the key points: 

  • Rent to include all utilities and rates 

  • Trading within a separate commercial unit – around 40 square meters, includes electricity but no running water.  All works to be discussed and agreed with the Board prior to any structural changes

 

Commercial space 

The building is fully accessible and separate to the main building.  

The portakabin has previously been used as an office space by another operator who will be removing all of the furniture. The space is taken as seen. 

There is currently electricity but no running water 

Any modifications to the building internally or externally must be agreed in advance by the board 

 

What we are looking for in a provider  

An ability to work with the Centre to create a welcoming and attractive space which enhances the Centre and attracts more visitors.  

An ability to develop the business, a willingness to promote the Centre using social media, posters, leaflets and other advertising methods.  

A commitment to a period of time (TBC) in which to grow and promote the business for its own and the Centre’s benefit.  

An understanding of the local area and a willingness to maintain a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all members of the community  

A willingness to work with The Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre trustees with respect and flexibility for the mutual benefit of our business and to serve our communities.  

 

General Trading Terms  

It is our intention to let the space and offer a contract on the basis of the following terms:  

  • It is run as a separate, independent business with a willingness to support, complement and enhance The Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre’s mission, values and activities.  

  • A licence/contract will be granted for 5 years initially (with a break clause at 1 and 3 year), at the sole discretion of The Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre trustees. 

  • Rent is paid monthly in advance on the 1st day of each month by standing order.  

  • Rent to be reviewed annually.  

 

To be included with submission (where relevant)  

  • What your business proposal is and your experience in operating similar or relevant business.  

  • How do you see yourself/ your business fitting in with the ethos of the Centre. What will you bring or offer to create a welcoming and attractive space which enhances the Centre and attracts more visitors.  

  • Any other information you feel will be relevant to your application 

  • What is your proposed monthly rent 

  • If relevant please provide, trading figures for the previous year, copies of company insurance documents, copies of health & safety policy of current businesses, your qualifications and any relevant certificates. 

  • Names and contact details of two referees.  

 

Key dates for tender process:  

Our intention is to let the site by 1st September 2020
